Booking a day trip in Tunisia often means choosing between the tour bus, which stops at twenty hotels before it even leaves, and a rental car, with unfamiliar roads and parking to deal with. A private excursion with a driver sits in between: a vehicle just for you, a driver who knows the way, and a day that follows your pace rather than a group's.
Our seven routes start from your hotel in Hammamet, Nabeul, Sousse, Monastir or Tunis and cover the highlights of northern and central Tunisia: the great Roman and Punic sites, the holy cities, hilltop villages, the beaches of Cap Bon and a family day at the wildlife park.
You leave at the agreed time without waiting for other passengers. You stay longer where you like, skip a stop if the children are tired and have lunch wherever you want. The price is per vehicle, not per person: for four travellers, a private trip often costs about the same as a group tour.
Tunisia has nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites, several of them less than two hours from Hammamet. The ruins of Carthage and the blue-and-white village of Sidi Bou Said, the Roman amphitheatre of El Jem and the Great Mosque of Kairouan, the temples of Dougga among the olive groves: each deserves a full day, with a driver who drops you right at the entrance.
Cap Bon strings together the beaches of Kelibia, the Punic city of Kerkouane and the cliffs of El Haouaria. Further inland, Zaghouan and its Water Temple lead to Zriba, a Berber village clinging to the mountain. With children, Friguia Park, half an hour from Hammamet, has lions, elephants and giraffes, with animal shows throughout the day. Sousse and Monastir combine medinas, ribats and a marina in one easy day.
Your driver meets you at the reception of your hotel, guesthouse or apartment in Hammamet, Yasmine Hammamet, Nabeul, Sousse, Port El Kantaoui, Monastir, Tunis or La Marsa and Gammarth, and drives you back in the evening.
Each tour page shows the price for a saloon car (1 to 4 travellers), a van (5 to 8) and a minibus (9 to 16), including fuel, tolls. Prices are set in euros and shown for guidance in dinars, dollars, pounds or Swiss francs. You book online without a card: we confirm by email and you pay on the day, in euros or dinars.
Spring and autumn are ideal for the archaeological sites; in July and August, leave early and keep the afternoon for the coast. Bring closed shoes for the ruins, a hat, water, and clothing that covers shoulders and knees to enter mosques. Site tickets and meals are not included, so you are free to choose.
